We’ve completed the first round of the Arde alphabet. We now begin a new cycle with three names that define and inspire us: Arde Gallery, the space where everything ignites; Atrio, one of our favorite places to dine in San Miguel de Allende; and Antonio O’Connell, one of the gallery’s outstanding artists, whose work has been with us since the beginning.que culinary experience by merging high Mexican cuisine with Thai food, celebrating the heritage of the Manila Galleon.

Arde Gallery | One of the leading contemporary art galleries in San Miguel de Allende

Arde Gallery is a contemporary Mexican art and design space located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. The gallery showcases works by talented artists from different parts of the country and offers the opportunity to acquire exclusive pieces that represent the best of Mexico’s contemporary art scene. As an extension of this project, Arde Shop was created as a platform within the gallery focused on more accessible and easy-to-transport formats—without compromising quality or conceptual rigor. In this space, artists and designers present special editions, collectible objects, small-format works, and proposals that allow collectors to take home a piece of Arde Gallery’s creative universe.

ATRIO |  The terrace with the most iconic view in San Miguel de Allende

Just a few blocks from Arde Gallery, Atrio has become one of the favorite restaurants for both locals and returning visitors. Its elevated terrace offers one of the most spectacular views of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal. The culinary proposal blends local ingredients with Mediterranean and Latin American influences, in a menu that constantly evolves and always surprises. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and every visit is an invitation to linger a little longer. After visiting the gallery, there’s no better way to end the day than with a sunset drink at Atrio.

ANTONIO O’CONNELL| THE SCULPTOR WHO WAS FIRST AN ARCHITECT

His work bridges the aesthetic and conceptual boundaries between art and architecture. Trained as an architect, Antonio O’Connell followed a path of experimentation that led him into contemporary art, becoming one of the most relevant installation artists of the moment. His ability to transform recycled materials into artworks results in powerful visual and conceptual statements. One of his most emblematic pieces, Cosmic Shipwreck, was installed in the central courtyard of the house that hosts Arde Gallery in San Miguel de Allende. Built using reclaimed wood, the work is a clear example of his artistic practice—one that merges sustainability, beauty, and profound narrative. Through his installations, O’Connell reflects on themes such as the fragility of ecosystems, the memory of materials, the interconnection between nature and humanity, and spiritual faith.
