Ernesto Alva

Draftsman, engraver and printer. His work develops between line and stain forming plots and labyrinths that explore emptiness, light and order with their opposites to achieve abstract sequences. The game with multiple plates and the application of aquatints are central strategies in his work.

Ernesto studied Plastic Arts at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda” (ENPEG) of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA). He attended workshops at the Multimedia Center of the National Center of the Arts (CENART) of the INBA and at the Teaching Center of Engraving of the INBA in Mexico City. He has exhibited in China, Spain and Poland; at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City; and La Roulette Arte Contemporáneo in Guatemala.

He has participated in several biennials and received the First Prize in the First Biennial of contemporary Mexican Print. He is the founder, master printer and manager of the workshop La Trampa, Contemporary Graphics. He has been part of the Young Creators Program of FONCA.
